My Conference Goal:

I would like to learn how to design effective teaching and learning strategies to motivate our underrepresented minorities in computing to learn various CS1 courses.

My Project Goal:

Attract more Hispanic and African American students into our various majors at the School of Computing. Also, help them succeed in challenging courses during their first two years.

I would like to integrate programming into our current discrete math and applied calculus courses which currently have high failing rates. I also want to include some fun hands-on learning activities that involve natural human-computer/robot interactions for some of our higher-level courses.
